First Aid at Work Course (3 Days)

The course content and certification obtained comply with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and is valid for 3 years.

Course Content
  • The role of the first aider
  • Use of available equipment
  • Actions in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is:
    • Unconscious
    • Requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    • Who is choking
    • Wounded and bleeding
    • Suffering from shock
  • Recognise the presence of a minor or major injuries and provide appropriate first aid.
  • Recognise the presence of minor or major illness and provide appropriate first aid.
First Aid at Work Re-qualification (2 days)

As a statutory requirement, first aiders must re-qualify prior to the Health and Safety Executive certificate expiring - i.e. within 3 years of the initial qualification.  This can be completed up to 3 months prior to the expiry date.

    • Requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation

    • Wounded and bleeding
    • Suffering from shock

  • Recognise the presence of minor or major illness and provide appropriate first aid.
Emergency First Aid at Work Course (6 hours)

The aim of the Emergency First Aid at Work Course is to provide the learner with the essential skills and knowledge required to carry out emergency treatment necessary to safe a life until further qualified assistance arrives to take over.  This course also meets the Health and Safety Executive (First Aid) Regulations 1981 for first aiders in small, low risk environments.  This course can be tailored to any work environment, including schools.

  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is:
  • Unconscious
  • Requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Who is choking
  • Wounded and bleeding
  • Suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Annual Refresher Course (3 Hours)

HSE strongly recommends that first aiders undertake annual refresher training within any 3 year certification period of First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

Individuals will practise first aid, in practical hands-on scenario sessions, which will give you the opportunity to practise and update your first aid skills.

Course Content
  • Assess the situation in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
